AVELA/LAINE (s. 2025–) ei niinkään tuota objekteja vaan tilanteita, joissa teokset
toimivat funktion ja fiktion, arkiston ja sattuman, keston ja katoamisen rajapinnoilla.
Näyttely käyttäytyy pikemmin situaationa kuin monumenttina – ennemmin
harjoituksena kuin päätelmänä.
Parasiittiset menetelmät, kerääminen, löydetyt objektit, spekulatiivinen
materiaalisuus ja rekursiiviset eleet muodostavat työskentelyn ehdot. Ei ole juonta,
vaan harhailua (dérive). Ei ole keskusta(a), vaan kulkureittejä. Kuva (imago) ei ole
objekti – se toimii (ago). Se kumpuaa syvyydestä (imo) ennen kuin asettuu
representaatioksi. (Ercole Quadrelli, Magic of the Image 1927.)
Asiat vaikuttavat toisiinsa ennen kuin alkavat merkitä toisilleen. Materiaalit lainaavat
muotoja, eleitä ja aikaa – eivät omista niitä. Keskeneräisyys ei pyydä täydentymään,
vaan jatkamaan. Kokonaisinstallaatiossa veistokset, tekstiilit, maalaukset ja
(im)materiaalit kokoontuvat väliaikaiseksi tapahtumaksi, jossa keskeneräisyydestä
tulee samanaikaisesti metodi ja muoto.
Rather than producing objects, AVELA/LAINE (b. 2025–) creates situations in which objects
operate along the thresholds between function and fiction, archive and accident, permanence and
disappearance. The exhibition behaves more as a situation than as a monument – more as an
exercise than as a conclusion.
Parasitic methods, collecting, found remains, speculative materiality and recursive gestures
constitute the working process. There is no plot to follow, only drifting (dérive). There is no center,
only passages. The image (imago) is never merely an object – it acts (ago). It emerges from depth
(imo) before settling into representation. (Ercole Quadrelli, Magic of the Image 1927.)
Things affect one another before they begin to signify for one another. Materials borrow forms,
gestures, and time – they do not own them. Incompletion does not ask for completion, but for
continuation. The installation brings together sculpture, textiles, painting and (im)materials into an
ecology where incompletion becomes both a method and a form.
